Welcome to the Fireflies Blog!

Hello! This is my first time doing a blog and am still trying to figure this all out so please be patient.

For those who don't know me, my name is Pam Brewer Varacek and I have owned Fireflies along with my partner and mother, Mary Brewer, for almost 8 years. Being a store owner is something I ever planned on becoming. I had originally thought I would be an art teacher but things work in funny ways and the store fell right into my lap. Talk about timing, the week after I bought the store, I found out I was pregnant with my son Lukas. Well almost 8 years later, most of my customers have watched Lukas and my daughter Kiersten grow up at Fireflies. We have moved to a larger location 2 times already and we are still going strong, even through this dismal economy.

I grew up in Bayport, NY and have such fond memories of Sayville and shops like Past & Presents, Charlotte Shop, Frances Sweet Shop, adn Village Cargo. I always dreamed of owning my own childrens store and now it is my reality. I absolutely love what I do and cannot imagine not doing it.

Our store is all about children. We carry layette to size 6x for girls and boys, christening outfits and gifts, books and plush to go with the books, toys, and of course baby gifts. Our most popular brand by far is Bunnies By the Bay-my fav!

In addition to the retail store, we also have Pixie Pal Parties in the back. This is our party space where we do birthday parties, camps and classes. This is where my teaching background comes to play. We just rapped up our first camp ever-Diva Camp-the kids had a blast. Next is American Girl Camp and Indiana Jones Adventure Camp.

We are always looking for ways to improve the store and ideas for products, classes, ect so please let us know how we are doing.
